About this place
Bairan’s signature dish, Bairan yakisoba, is made with noodles fried until crisp on the outside. Break through the noodles with chopsticks and the filling appears inside. The contrast between the fragrant, crisp noodles and the soft, savoury filling is part of the pleasure. Some diners say they add vinegar from the table partway through to change the flavour.
A smaller portion is available, along with versions that vary in their fillings and flavour, including seafood and a spicy beef option. Lunch sets come with soup and almond jelly; some also let you choose a dim sum accompaniment: shumai, steamed shrimp dumplings or spring rolls.
For a soupy noodle dish instead, the menu includes dandan noodles and chicken noodles. These can also be ordered with a half portion of fried rice.
